When parents talk, young children learn

To promote language development in children from birth through age 3, LENA combines interactive parent sessions with a “talk pedometer.”

Similar to a pedometer that measures how many steps we take, LENA’s talk pedometer helps parents see how frequently they talk with infants and toddlers.

When parents keep track of their talk time, they see ways to increase it that can help children use words and build language skills.
