Student services and parent engagement

Children whose learning is significantly impacted by disabilities are guaranteed free appropriate public education under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

The SC Department of Education encourages parent engagement and supports public schools in providing services. The department’s Office of Special Education Services is the starting point for parents who need to learn more.
