Protecting children from abuse and neglect

Child Protective Services is a division of the SC Department of Social Services. Their mission is to protect children and work to strengthen families.

Case managers investigate reports of abuse and neglect. Depending on their findings, Child Protective Services may connect families with support so that parents can improve the safety and well-being of their children. Or they may find stable homes for children through the care of relatives (kinship care), foster care, or adoption.
