A safe option for baby and parent
Also known as the Safe Haven for Abandoned Babies Act, Daniel’s Law provides a safe option for baby and parent.
Instead of abandoning a newborn up to 60 days old, a parent can leave their unharmed infant at a designated safe location. When the child is turned over safely, the person who abandons the baby cannot be prosecuted.
Safe locations can include:
- Hospitals
- Fire stations
- Churches
- Law enforcement agencies
