Helping young children with sickle cell get the care they need

For a child from an eligible family, state-funded help for care of sickle cell disease is available. To qualify, family income must be at or below 250% of the federal poverty level based on family size.

The SC Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) provides care coordination and payment assistance for medical services, equipment, supplies and medication through the state’s sickle cell program.
